Don't hold yourself like that cause you'll hurt your knees well I kissed your mouth, and back But that's all I need - don't build your world around volcanoes melt you down. Will you help me?Trent couldn't get those goddamned words out of his head. He couldn't get rid of the implications attached to them, the connotations he might be making up, the ones he couldn't quite decide on - they were there, they weren't there, but there had to be something ...? Something. Had to be something. No body asked for help in Alteron, didn't matter if they needed it more than they had ever needed anything in their goddamned useless life, whether or not it was more important than eating or breathing or - you didn't ask for anything. Any fuckhead peasant ( pissant, he thinks, with a wry twist of the mouth) who opened their mouth with those kind of words would have been shot down quicker than lightning in a wide open field with a bullet fired straight from the masses. Alteron didn't pander to helpessness, it never had. There were lovers sometimes, just as there were always lovers in hell, yet even then they would only ever sit and watch with a kind of rueful agony while their other half was torn apart. They'd done the same to him, hadn't they? He'd dragged himself bleeding and broken to Alteron's hallowed feet, and they'd watched. They'd watched and done nothing. There was no help in Alteron. It was a hopeless oneshot and they both had to know it because Trent didn't believe that Brushfire was stupid enough to risk her integrity like that. But still the uncertainty remained, a constant hover of doubt, hesitance, and assumption: know what? WHAT IS THERE TO KNOW? He felt unsettled, the kind of 'puzzle piece' scramble he'd known as a young male, back when he'd had a history of hearts yet to break and a short road behind him, with the long road infront. But now all Trent felt was... old. Old and weary and alone with a bone-deep ache in his limbs, one that crept into every crevice, reminded him of every hurt, both the physical and the mental, and it was the kind of concrete guilt that had teeth. Where his eye should have been, a residual node of soreness had developed, the burning sensation of a phantom limb; when he dreamed, he dreamed with both. " I guess I will." Even if I can't help myself. A whisper through clenched teeth. Trent was an old warbird, say true - six years old and not getting any younger, grizzled with age in many ways and not all of them visible to the naked eye - and he'd be damned before he let somebody like her drown. It wasn't right. Innocence was something fragile and delicate and it needed to be protected, and she had asked, after all. He had an obligation, didn't he, he'd made a vow even if no body knew about it but it didn't matter because he had to keep his word. The sentry raised his head to the broken canopy overlying Alteron and sighed softly, sucking in the rancid air before moving on through what felt like tar, the humidity choking. Didn't know where he'd find her but anywhere was a good start. So long as he was moving. His last good eye was sharp and watchful as he threaded through the forest's detritus.
What I give to you is just what I'm going through This is nothing new, no no, just another phase of finding what I really need is what makes me bleed But like a new disease, Lord, she's still too young to treat; she's still too young.

[[soooooo sorry. school came back and, well, bleh. ]] She had slithered away from that scene. One of Blade's children, the child that he had had with Dagger. Two of her closest friends, well, she considered them friends. And as far as she knew, they were the best damn friends she could ever have. What more could she expect from this forest of loathsome creatures. Here, where there were dark shadows behind every tree, and if your gut instinct wasn't to flee, then you were as good as dead. She had died here, many times before. And yet, time after time, no mercy would be granted towards the Sentry. She wouldn't be granted the wonderful gift of eternal freedom from the life she feared so greatly. She wasn't granted her wishes of sinking into the dirt until she was no more. No. Her wishes and hopes were ignored, spat on, laughed at, and scorned. The life that used to shine light every day's sunrise, that wonderous glow in her deep copper eyes, they were no more than a dim shimmer. Something that could only be seen in the tiniest fraction of a second, and only at certain times of the day. Times where she had thinking space to herself. Times where she could remember soem of the, well, better times. With her mind so sullen and depressed, she couldn't even recall a "good" time. They were all horrible times - they only seemed good when compared to the misery that surrounded her every second of every minute. But now, had she found a bit of hope? True hope? Someone who wouldn't turn on her? Someone who had been there for her for so long, even when her back was turned to him? A wolf that was not tied to her by the bonds of love or obligation. He was there for her because he cared, because he was a creature with some form of morals...
"I guess I will." Faint words that were barely audible in the rich forest's day song... words that could only be heard if the ears had been searching for that voice. And the Sentry did. Her brown eyes, the eyes that were filled with a child's view of hope and peace and life. That twinkle, that shimmer of life glow once again. Auds perking, the timber she-wolf glanced in the direction where she had heard his voice. Her captain, in a sense. She obeyed his commands, sought out his wisdom and words, his advice and support. A support that did not make her completely lean over onto him. No. A support that was there when she needed, and even if she thought she didn't. Her one-eyed angel. Trent.
Sighing with the slightest hint of relief, hope, and realization, Brushfire leaned forwards, taking those swift steps. In a hurry, she slid through the thick vegetation, her brown paws barely treading on the moss and leaves that decorated the ground. Her tail didn't dare to bounce as her body zipped around trees and under branches. Her mouth, barely opened so that her breathing could aid her swift pace. One can see a bit of pink, the tip of her tongue brushing up against the edges of her lower jaw. Auds remained erect, listening for any change in direction. And, as far she Ru could tell, Trent was still walking. Still moving. Was he avoiding her? Most likely not, she hoped, he could just be ensuring the privacy of their conversation. She knew that he was expecting her, just as she was searching for him. She needed him, as she had told him earlier. She needed help, guidance. Brushfire seemed to be at a standstill, to make her situation seem more optimistic. She didn't know where to go from here. Borders were closed, so any chance of working her tail off for her rank was out of the question. She needed something, anything, to keep her occupied. Something to give Rapier less reason to harass her ass off. Anything to show Blade that she was worth his support and loyalty. And, most importantly, a damn good reason to prove to herself that she didn't need Ridge.
When the Beetle's scent was unmistakably near, the Sentry resorted to her eyes to try and find him. Scanning left to right and back again, the timber worked at a hasty pace. When not even two seconds in her search had passed, she spotted him and immediately resumed her swift and elusive pace until she was up right beside him. She slowed, her paws taking more deliberate and delicate steps, her eyes now watching them intently as she did. her auds perked over to the male next to her, awaiting anything he might say. Or perhaps something he would not say. But for now, she could hear his breathing. Her tail, limp, was juggled between her two hind legs as they walked. Before she knew it, her heart was speaking for her, "Trent... I don't know what to do, anymore. I never seem to get anywhere, gain any favor, or make anything of myself..." She paused, waiting to see if he had an answer just yet. "What's wrong with me?" Those words were said more slowly, more thoughtfully. What was wrong with her..?
