[Rita (profile in signature) of El Dorado is attempting to claim Unclaimed Land #1]
Heavy paws treaded on the moist terrain with elegant confidence. Charms dangled and bounced against her head, her dark golden eyes peering ahead. A grin, so suave and simple, spread gently across her bluescaled maw. Raising an eyebrow, she turned to her side, looking. No one. And then she turned to her other side, once again finding no subject. A soft 'hmph' escaped her maw, and she shrugged her shoulders in a graceful, rolling motion. Her scruffy tail flickered behind her, giving her the visual appearance of a soft, bouncing stride. Yet it was only an illusion, an attempt to capture the attention of any whose gaze rested upon her figure. Let them come forward now, here. As far as she knew, and for as much as she cared, the mutt could walk further into this territory without any second thoughts. The wavering scent of the past owners grew fainter and fainter with each passing breeze, and so she came to the conclusion that others would, undoubtably, come to soon enough. This land was up for the taking.
That grin widened, her eyes narrowing, as she trotted daintly across the remainder of the ground that lay between her and the heart of this homeland. Tail raised high, curving and wilting at the top as though pulling in any who lingered nearby. Was she all alone in this claim? Would no one else accompany her, challenge her, for what she wanted? For what she needed? For what was hers? Spinning swiftly, beautifully, before sitting herself down in a rather poised position, the Blackblooded mutt took one last gaze around. Eyes cast their search against the horizens - where were the others? Truly she was not alone, here. 'Hmphing', once again to herself, Rita let her seductive smile disappear momentarily as she lifted her maw high to the skies. A howl, a song of the angels, melodious and magnificent, filled the air and careened around every tree and every bend. Let it lure those who found themselves unable to resist its charming call. Let it summon those who were destined to follow her. Those who were destined to be used... Those useful enough to be used.
Or, perhaps, it might summon the enemy. Seconds ticked by, and only time would tell.

((Have permission from Akante to jump in here)) *This small marshy island has been Cricket's home almost her entire life. Little did she know it was about to be invaded...by pirates of all things.* *It had been an alright run to the Man Village for the weasel, but she was most tired after the walk. But it was worth it. Behind her she dragged a string, strung with a few beads that sparkled in the sunlight, and a few feathers. She's tuck that away in her den later. Right now, she just wanted to look at it. Delicatly with tiny paws, Cricket poked at the beads, causing the light to reflect through them and onto a rock. Now this is what life was about! All the pretties you could collect. He who dies with the most pretties wins, after all.* *What was that? Cricket tucked her treasure under her body and crouched to the ground in one fluid motion. She lifted her nose in the air to confrim...wolf. Sure, she new of many wolves around here, she had to sneak through thier territory to get to the mainland. But none had ventured here, not in a long time. Last time a pack tried to claw out a living on this God forsaken island they didn't last long, and the weasel had to hide out in her hole most of the time. It was then her two friends had left. One went off to try to befriend the beasts, the other, damn coward, just fled. But now...oh not again. She wouldn't let this happen! Hiding her treasure under a bush, she jumped into action.* *It didn't take long to find the beast, just follow that rancid sound. Right close to her burrow too. This wolf was already decked out in lots of treasures. Could this be a kindred spirit? Or a threat to her hoard? Cricket didn't want to take the chance. With a determined glare, she hoped atop the mound that singled her den. That way, if the beastie attacked, she could retreat swiftly. She hadn't been threatened by many wolves in the past, but with her size she couldn't be too careful.* Hey! What are you doing here!?

The young monkey stumbled amongst the wet, greasy branches in the trees. Things here were much moister than he was used to. Which was saying a lot, considering he was used to a tropical climate. This was different though. These trees were almost slimy. Melvin had been travelling all day, and stopped for a moment to catch his breath and take a look around. Wiping his hands on his furry chest of that slimy feeling, he spotted some kind of red fruit budding in the tree above him. Eagerly he climbed through the limbs and vines until he reached the treasure. He had never seen a fruit like this before, and sniffed and poked it curiously. It seemed okay to him. Cautiously he plucked the fruit and examined it further. He looked at it from every angle, shook it around, knocked it against the branch he sat on, licked it.. he wasn't going to leave anything unknown about it. As he was about to take the first bite, he heard something interesting. He didn't know what it was. At first it scared him, but curiosity got the better of him. Grabbing a few more mystery fruits in one arm, he moved through the overbrush like a handicapped trapeze artist; it wasn't pretty, and he fell a few times, but it did the trick to get him around. When he saw the wolf she was alone. He hadn't ever seen a wolf before.. only big cats. This thing was different too. This whole place was different. Hugging a branch with his tail, he leaned as far as he could over the animal. At the moment he was about directly above her. It was a very, very bad time to drop one of his funny fruits but that is exactly what happened. At the same time as the fruit fell from his grip, another exclaimed "Hey! What are you doing here?"As the fruit fell he moved back into the tree to try and hide himself. Even if the fruit didn't hit the wolf, it would hit the ground very near her. With wide eyes and a quick beating heart Melvin anticipated his discovery.

Samael was already rumbling about the land in between for awhile. It made for good fishing you see and the bear wasn't about to give up some good and tasty food when it was so easy to find. Of course he had always been a bit of a lazy bum just sitting about and gobbling down what food he could find and that's why he was currently about a ton in weight. Not that it mattered to the bear who was already tall, almost six foot in height. Certainly something to be wary of he thought as he grinned, his teeth flashing in the sunlight as he listened to several howls going up around the unclaimed land. There were wolves here, new wolves.
Only one of the howls was different though, only one interested him completely and that was the howl of a female. She seemed to be authoritative and secure in her authority, something that the bear could admire. He would never be able to run a territory on his own, but of course, nor was he a small animal worthy of nothing more than a scrap of food. Samael was a force unto himself and his one goal would be that he were a warrior, the head of them perhaps. He could handle that kind of a job. Warlord, he'd always been. War and food were the only things that interested the lumbering creature as he scooped up a fish and dined upon it with abandon.
With a second's thought he scooped up a few more in his paws and made his way towards the unclaimed land. He had a total of three in his paw that was clasped against his chest. Whether or not they wished for the fish he would not know, but it seemed like a good gesture. He ate one on the way over there and so there were two left. Samael just grinned his toothy grin as he came into viewing range of the one who had called. Well well it was that wolf he'd seen around in the forests of the world. Rita or something like that. Samael felt more at home knowing the individual who would obviously be leading.
He spoke as he came upon the group, moving next to the mottled wolf. "Hello again Rita. A fish for your strength if you wish." With that he held out a paw with a large silver scaled fish on the largest paw pad. Whether or not she would take it was the question, but as she knew Samael somewhat he hoped she would not take offense to his gift for her strength. Why would he not wish her well in any case? The bear was trumped by that question even as he looked around to see those gathered. An otter and a monkey. An odd assortment but useful nonetheless.
Now the time came to wait. What more could he do?

Oh, Ho, ho ho! A pretty lass, she's a calling.Jack's head flung high into the air, sending his beads forward and then slamming back against his muzzle. Agh! With a shake of his braided mane, he cleared his face of any and all accessories. Who could that lovely bay belong to? Who was the caster of this delicious treat to his ears? Well, he'd just have to find out now wouldn't he? The blackblood lifted himself slowly from his resting place. He had found himself a most beautiful place to stop for the night. It was actually a rock ledge, with another expanse of rock right underneath the protruding tip. It was situated by a fairly large river running through the land. This place had looked extremely inviting to him last night, what with the combination of roof, lookout point, and a place to drink...ah, perfect for the lumbering brute. He'd stumbled to the ledge, fallen into the water, and dragged himself up to the rocky plateau underneath to dry and pass out. It was a miracle if he remembered most of that, or where he had been for the past few months. All he knew was that he had to heed this melody in the air. Never leave a lady hanging. He glided almost gracefully towards the epicenter with long sturdy legs and bouncing 'X' marked tail. He had the damsel in his sights, a toothy smile spread across his features as he examined her features. This show of grace was fleeting though... Coming upon the blue hued miss, he'd come fairly close to a bear as well. Where did that beastie come from, eh? Jack had been too preoccupied with the femme to notice the ursine approaching at her side. Shit! He was already upon her basically, so close to her and the bear that he could smell the stench of...sniff sniff...fish. He opened his mouth to utter his greetings and words, but none came. CLUNK.What the blood hell was that? Raising a paw to steady his vision and rub his head, he'd look around and find that it was neither the bear nor the girl who had assaulted him. His attacker was a rather angry looking fruit, all squashed now and bleeding red. Serves it right! How dare it?! " ...Jack ..Sparrow " He mumbled. Knowing all too well that he'd looked like a fool and that he'd rather not do the whole nice guy act at the moment. His head still kind of hurt.

Someone somewhere there was some poor marshlander having to listen to Reh sqwack instead of a real songbird's song. Oh well, Reh had a beautiful sqwack, one in which she had spent much time screatching out to the world until it melded ear bleeding perfection. For those who have never heard a Magpie sing, you are lucky, for those of you that have, imagine it on crack-cocaine. Didn't phase her that people told her shut up, people were mean, Reh thought her 'song' was beautiful, and in most cases she sang it louder as for them to really 'take it in'. So talking louder equals people tend to listen more, she'd learned that one quickly. Content with her song she flitted lightly, smokey sky blue and green feathers carrying her from tree to tree. Least until she saw what was some kind of correlation of animals on the island she often roomed on. Cocking her head to the side as she flew, Reh dropped in altitude and soared straight for the small group of creatures, weaving past the bear to land on the shoulder of the wolf. "You got's dem shinys... Where you gots em?" Her beady eyes locked on Rita's earings and piercings. "Ya know... Reh has got some shinys too. She keeps 'um around..." Nobody wanted to know, but that didn't stop Reh. Lightly her beady black eyes flicked from creature to creature. "Reh is Reh. Birdy!" she introduced herself quite elegantly. Normally people didn't like her, but that didn't stop her from trying to make friends. Her long tail twitched as she looked at them, the small charm around her neck caught wind and blew for a moment. "Why youse here?" she chirped, then turning to look at the newest arrival, Jack. "Whats you gots in yer hair der?"

Wings spread out across the sky. The sunlight shone off the feathers revealing the natural beauty that was a macaw. Where was he going? Nowhere in particular, one didn't need to go somewhere to fly. It was all about enjoying the freedom that was given to birds to be able fly high up in the air and not down below on the earth where the lands were littered with small land mammals. Flying down he came to perch on the branch he had made rightfully his. His beak parks scarred the trees trunk and his claws left decent marks on the branch itself. It didn't matter to him if another animal took shelter in his tree as long they stayed clear of his branch. It was perfect, the branch forked out pretty close to the trunk providing a perfect nest for all his belongings. Alerio had built the nest himself and had done a pretty good job of it as well. The nest contained things ranging from a small mouse skull to a rope of some sort that connected to the opposite end of its self. It contained small beads and looked as though it would have fit perfectly, yet loosely around his neck. It was perfect! He could place it around his neck to show off his precious wealth, but the question was how he would get it on. A howl erupted from below causing Alerio to forget about his plan. Moving to the end of his branch he looked down below. He had seen this creature before, ah yes it was a wolf. Probably just a passer-by determined to irritate them all with its noises. He let out a small snort and turned his back determined to get that thing around his neck. However not long after he heard much more nose coming down from below. Into flight mode he went and began to circle the growing crowd. As he dropped lower he noticed something interesting on the female. Objects that shined in the sun, maybe something worth taking. With little thought and consideration he dropped down landing on the wolfs back next to a magpie. It was babbling on about what he suspected to be the objects the wolf had on. "what is all the disruption down here about." He scowled while he spoke "Can a bird get no peace anywhere?" he was a large bird and he knew it which meant his talons were long and sharp but if this bothered the wolf, well what did he care.
