[set same day as the challenge thread]
Little Deerscream had climbed to the top of a tree. It was difficult in the cold, foggy pre-dawn. It was worth it, though. She felt like she was on top of the whole world.
The sun climbed over the top of the horizon, then turned from red to yellow, then finally reached the point where it glowed its glorious blazing white. Deerscream hadn't been watching the sun the whole time. She had been watching ground below. She needed to fell an animal soon; her food supply was running low. Besides, she would need to start early in the morning so that she could try to start a fire and smoke it while the air wasn't laiden with water.
She took aim with her bow and arrow, watching as various creatures began their mornings below her. Skunks and cranes walked below. She even saw a few wolves go past and Creek following them. They looked like they were in the middle of something. Odd. However, after the party of four left, the thing she wanted came carefully walking through. It was a young buck, tender and observant. He looked behind him and to both sides between each step, head always slowly rotating.
Poor sap wouldn't know what hit him.
So, she let the arrow fly. It was aided by gravity, which was a good thing since Deerscream was not the best shot. The buck grunted once before tearing into the undergrowth to die. She grinned to herself. She'd shot it in the neck.
She began climbing down the tree, as awkwardly as humans do climb backwards. She had a blood trail to follow!

Sonja
Sonja skittered through the brush, she had heard from Shark, his boasting of letting a human into the pack. She had listened since she had found he much preferred to be listened to, and have no comments. She had been scurrying across the ground when she let out a screech sound, she barely managed to jump out of the way of a stampeding buck, with... an arrow in its neck? She raced after him, her short legs making it hard to keep up, but the deer slowed and staggered, then knelt slowly, body tensing with pain. Sonja hopped a bit closer as the buck fell to his side. She gently put a dark paw on his cheek and stroked, "Good bye..." She murmured, a soft chitter if you will. She felt sorry for the beast, didn't people know, the fastest way to kill was through the heart? She sighed and moved to the neck, looking around she realized he had fallen on the arrow, it was broken now. She glared at the arrow momentarily, something made it, and the only things that made arrows... Were humans. She would hop up onto the buck and twist around to see where this human could be. Oh god... Should she worry about Rita or Shark appearing? The only reason she never answered to Acceptance calls, were due to her size. Shark scoffed at her for even thinking about
'What would you do if they didn't see you as a guard? What would you do if they tried to kill you? What would you do if they were killing you?'
And she could almost hear his thoughts run along something like this; 'I would jump around and say YESS! No annoying PEST! WOOP!' though a lot more around his train of thought, whatever that was. Suddenly thinking about Shark made her look defeated. Great, she was worried about how he thought of her. Good thing she was more silent than ever, she hardly ever spoke to Shark, she simply listened. She had stopped using full sentences, and started to use an odd mixture of words to get her point across. The polecat sighed and moved back to the Buck's head and wove herself through the tines on the antlers. Putting her head on her paws she stared out into the trees. Why did she seem to care about what he thought? She would bet, he wouldn't care about the fact she almost got run over by a deer... She sighed, ears falling back. Why did she have to care about what someone thought? With a twitch she turned to look for what broke a branch.

Little Deerscream slowly followed the trail of blood. It slathered the foliage in greater intensity until she came to a place where she saw the great, scrambled hoofprints stopping behind a small bush. It formed a hedge and the human figured it would be easier to walk through the bush than to go over it.
As she broke through the greenery, she saw the dead buck and something small and faintly feline (proper classification wasn't around yet). Deerscream looked down at the critter. It wasn't a food animal, so she didn't even think to try and kill it. She dropped to a squatting position, still god yard between her and the carcass plus Sonja.
She wasn't jittery, like the animals that obviously held no security in this land. So, Deerscream made the assumption that this little polecat was a member of "Fish's" group. "Hello, little friend." She would make a small circle with her hand before getting up and approaching, feeling like she had done her obligated task for greeting.
She kneeled down again, putting a hand to the thick side of the deer. She'd reach for the arrow; she needed that flint to go ahead and gut this thing. She certainly couldn't carry it back by herself in one piece.

She watched the human move closer. She struggled to scramble away, hopping off the antlers she paused a fair way off from the girl. She wasn't going to harm her she figured, so she moved closer, and soon was looking at where the girl was trying to reach. Since the Buck had landed on the arrow, rendering the shaft broken and not usable, the pole cat would look up at the girl and crawl closer, and look at the wound. She could get whatever the girl was after, Besides, the buck was rather heavy and the polecat knew it would be difficult to get whatever it was she wanted, but the girl didn't hold a knife, so, she must need whatever killed the buck. She would make a chirping sound as if questioning the woman.
If the woman got what she was trying to do, and held the deer head up, so that Sonja could get at the wound, she would, at first, churp and hold the stick up. Once she got a no, she would continue. This time, sticking her short arm into the wound. She'd hiss slightly in disgust, but get a paw on the flint, as she pulled, her other arm would go in to grasp the flint and she would manage to wriggle it out after a moment and hold it up for the woman, and churp again, rounded ears perked and blue eyes curious. What was she doing? Why did she need this? Humans could be so interesting~ Maybe she could sneak something from the girl to take to Shark so he didn't think she was just lazing about doing crap all all day.
If she didn't acknowledge her, she would sit close and watch, unnerving sea blue eyes staring at the woman's hands, thoughts and questions running through her mind.

What was the little critter trying to get to? Deerscream held the deer head up, but the little polecat got under. Deerscream was about to drop the deer head and tell the creature to get away from her kill when it came back to her, chirping happily about the flint it held in her hand.
It was then that Deerscream did let the deer head drop, but carefully drop, and took the flint gently from the little creature.
"Thank you," she said after a moment. She began working on the deer, slitting flesh from meat. After a second, she remembered her little friend. She pointed inside the deer. "Would you like a bite?"
She supposed this creature, like cats, ate meat. Most things did. If it had claws, Deerscream classified it as hunter, not hunted. There were a rare few exceptions, such as rabbits, but generally it was a rule to be followed. Oh well. Deerscream would be polite no matter what.

Working as quick as she could, hoping the human wouldn't get mad at her, or drop the deer on her(Which would suck entirely), She managed to get the stone for the girl, chirping happily as she held it out to her. The girl seemed to show some surprise, in the way she slowly dropped the deer head, and took the flint from her.
"Thank you,"
She started bouncing around, kind of like a spazz(like so-link) a kind of 'war-Dance' to show her excitement. She paused and stared intently at the human as she spoke,
"Would you like a bite?"
She made another chirping sound, only more questioning, as she bounced closer to the human, hopping up onto the deers side, to tilt her head slightly looking at the girl. What did she mean? She'd churp questioningly. Surely the human wasn't asking if she wanted food? She would hop off the carcass's backside and walk to the girls side, to sit and watch. How ever the girl took this, she would gladly take a piece of meat, or whatever was given and gobble it down happily while simply watching as the human gutted the deer.
-short sorry xP-

Deerscream giggled in slight amusement when the slightly confused cat-thing backed away from the deer. The human popped the flint blade into the deer's succulent flesh then--fwip!--it was a small, bloody sliver in her hand. It was probably about mouse sized; nothing Deerscream would miss, but a nice snack for the polecat.
She would hold her hand out to it, assuming by now it was probably a member of this group. The name of this land escaped her, though Creek Dancer had tried her hardest to explain to Deerscream what it was called. For now, she called it "Gold Land". "Is this alright?" She suddenly realized that the creature may not eat meat.
But then, it snatched it out of her hand so all was well.
She began cutting off bits of the deer, intestines from flesh, skin from bone, limbs from body. "My name's Deerscream. What's yours?" Maybe it could gestulate? She'd try as soon as she got finished.
Which could be a while...

"Is this alright?"
She looked over the mouse sized piece of meat, solid meat~ She drooled slightly and then snatched it with a happy churp in thanks. She watched curiously as the human took the deer apart with the little piece of flint, she twitched her ear at the human as she spoke,
"My name's Deerscream. What's yours?"
What an odd name for a human. She simply watched, there was really no way to say it, or for her to tell her. Huh. The little polecat sat and munched on the meat and watched Scream cut up the deer. Thats funny. A Deer cutting up a deer. Haha. That was a good one, the polecat thought quietly. Sonja churped softly, she didn't know what to do really, she could make gestures, but what would be easiest? being given a name or making one up that she could tell? She began churping to herself as she cleaned herself, having finished her excellent meat~ No wonder shark was pleased with the fact she hunted for herself, the pig. She started to make odd squeaking noises, oh god, if Shark could hear her thoughts, she'd be lunch. She laughed(odd squeaking sound~) And settled down happily content to watch and keep the human company. She had nothing interesting that she could tell, although. That blanket that Shark brought to his den smelt something like her. Hmm. Interesting. She churped questioningly and finally put her paws, pads up, and raised her shoulders as if saying ' i dont know'.
-uuugh, post so short D: - \

The little limber thing made the cutest little noises. Deerscream was quite at home with the sounds, almost being reminded of the high pitched yelling of children.
Children... hm. Li'l Deer would have to ask Creek Dancer to ask the leader, whoever that was, about going out to meet a man. Deerscream figured it would be alright to start a family once she got more settled, gave the wolves things to amuse themselves while she busied herself with raising a child. Hopefully a little boy, a warrior...
But that was for another day.
She smiled softly as the creature gave up trying to tell the human her name. "Well, I'll call you--hm, Swellowsong." It seemed fitting, given the polecat's chirps and friendly nature. Deerscream freed the head of the deer from its shoulders then began working to free the antlers from the skull. The human hoped that the polecat would enjoy her name; it would do until the human could understand the smaller creature.

As Sonja gave up telling the woman her name, she watched as the woman smiled and spoke,
"Well, I'll call you--hm, Swellowsong."
Sonja opened her mouth slightly, and started to bounce around, oh gawsh oh gawsh! She had a human name! Eeeeh~ She couldn't understand why she was so happy and she bounced around, her long body seeming rather tall now as she had her belly to her belly, if that makes sense(look at the ferret in the video) She twisted around and hopped joyfully in her 'war-dance' of sorts. When she paused she was close to out of breath, but happily hopped closer to the head that Deerscream was trying to free the antlers from. She swayed and churped happily, watching with bright blue eyes. It was kind of obvious that the human brought out her pleasant thoughts and emotions. Shark brought out her quiet and not so pleasant emotions and thoughts. She slowly stopped swaying and churping, just content to watch DeerScream and the antlers. She continued to think of how every time she thought of Shark, it was angry thoughts, well why not? He would have probably left her to die if something attacked her while they came to El Dorado. So you know, she had that against him, of course. It never helped she had to run all the way back to that damned tree to get the bloody necklace, didn't he know how slow going it was with a necklace? Unfortunately, her plan for him to have it, kind of backfired, he was supposed to have it, not Rita. But as long as it wasn't hers, she was stuck with nothing. All she could do was hoard stuff, she could never wear it like Rita, seeing as she had the most accessories, other than her new friend here. She glanced up at DeerScream, why was she here? did she want to come here? She had caught an odd scent, one she hadn't smelled before. Eh, what ever. She looked over the woman and sighed softly before laying down, even if it looked like she was simply standing she was actually on her belly, and was ready to move, just in case something decided to hit her.

[uuuuuh, tried to post/edit this earlier, got deleted. i am upset and kind of rush posting. Forgive me?]
As the creature laid beside her, Deerscream would look upon it, almost... Motherly. She would return to cutting the carcass then, finally severing the half clear bonds that held joint bones to torso. The flesh was drinking up the blood and Deerscream silently lamented the fact that she would be the one to carry this to a tree. Smoke cooking was best for preservation.
Swellowsong looked rather peaceful and acted rather wild. The polecat reminded Deerscream of a child. A little pang, not quite as pure as it should have been, more like a the pang a selfish youth feels upon seeing a dolly they much desire--that kind of pang ran through her heart. Like most creatures, Deerscream desired offspring. Her reasons were in all the wrong places, but that didn't matter much. She wanted something small and cute and lively to dote on.
She figured that the polecat would do for now. The human made silent plans within her head to make a little blanket or something for it. Maybe it would even like to sleep in her treehouse? The fort was far from ready, but infinitely better than most dens. "So, Swellowsong, I'm here with my horse, Creek Dancer. We met a wolf named Fish. Do you know either of them?"
Akeail said:
[Yes~ All is forgiven <3 Just warning you i havne't been feeling the greatest, was in major pain and agony earlier, took a couple extra Advil, so this may not be my best post ^^' ]
The polecat beamed as she watched oh so interested in what the woman was doing. She watched the small piece of stone sever the joints, rendering them useless. Sonja blinked, oh damn. She wanted to help now, but how? She was too small to do anything, well, anything properly. She perked rounded ears and churped quickly and curiously,
"So, Swellowsong, I'm here with my horse, Creek Dancer. We met a wolf named Fish. Do you know either of them?"
She churped 'Fish' over and over and over. Fish?... Wait. Shark? She blinked at the woman going silent. She made a questioning churp, she hadn't seen the horse, but this fish character could be Shark, couldn't it?Questioningly she bared her teeth momentarily, then made a growling sound much like Shark would. And would glance up and churp, and bare her teeth and growl again. If the girl understood she was trying to compare Fish with someone and nodded she would nod, she knew Fish. Ha. Maybe she should call him Fish next time she saw him. If she didn't understand she'd just churp a couple times and shrug. Oh well. She probably did know this 'Fish' character. Hm Perhaps she would ask the horse that Scream mentioned.
Mama said:
Growling sound... yep. That was Fish, alright. Little Deerscream giggled behind a bloody hand, amused with the polecat's fairly accurate representation of the blue beast that had allowed them passage into the borders. Hm. Swellowsong was pretty good at translating back and forth.
Slipping another sliver of red flesh in the polecat's direction, the woman stood up and grabbed the two forelegs. The limp, formerly graceful appendages were slung over her shoulder, a splatter of dull red coating the ground which idly let the blood stain the already saturated ground. Little Deerscream was going to be walking back and forth now. The job was mostly over. Perhaps, if Swellowsong was patient, she would get a reward. A nice little mini-blanket out of the deer's brown hide.
"Wanna walk with me, hm?" Regardless of whether or not the little creature would follow, the human would make her way through the shrubbery again, stained white skirt trailing in the humid marshlands. Just another day of the normal. Another day, another death.
[fade off from here?]

Sonja
SwellowSong smiled as the girl giggled at her 'impression' of Shark. She perked rounded ears at the sliver of meat passed her way, she churped gratefully as she ate it. She stood, up as the woman did, blue eyes bright as she spoke to her after taking up the long bloody legs,
"Wanna walk with me, hm?"
She churped and nodded. She would run forwards, and stop, stand on her hind paws, wait for Scream, churp and run forwards again, and continue the whole way to the humans 'camp'. She would keep DearScream company through out this endeavor, Blue eyes simply sparkling. She would sit with Scream as she smoked the meat, becoming kind of a cheery companion, probably a great relief from her 'stuck up'(for lack of a better word) partner, it was that way with Sonja, she felt so much more relaxed with DearScream, that she liked to forget about Shark.
