[FIGHTING AND TRAINING, AND BRUISES GALORE]
"Nico!"
She finally had some time to whip that blue and tan thing into shape. The huge hunk of flesh and blood sloshed through the mushy half-land-half-water of the training grounds. Her huge hooves, now mucky and probably every bit as stanky as the wolves here, moved and disrupted the many creatures in the silt and mud. She didn't care. They could get the eff out of her way or get crushed. It didn't hurt her one bit to hear a little frog here and there scream in agony.
Whatever.
Stupid little slimy things.
Right now, she had bigger fish to fry, possibly literally. Nico had said he didn't know how to fight, which was a shame. He had agreed to listen to Creek Dancer, which greatly pleased the horse. If she was able to get this boy in order, she would definitely work on training other "Gunners". What better way to earn a job than to prove that you're the best for it, right? Right. Regardless, the toned horse's first affair was making good on her commitment to Nico.
More money, more power, more everything. Today was going to be a good day, she figured. The sun wasn't even up yet. Creek Dancer didn't think to even worry how long wolves slept. She slept an hour or three then was ready to go, taking little naps through out the waking hours and night so that she could always be on the borders~.
"NIC-OOOOO!" Loud little spitfire.

[SOUNDS JOYOUS!]
As a rankless Sailor, Nico was unsure what he had to do, so he tried to do it all. At the start of the day, he began wandering the borders. It was monotonous and boring, and after a while he realized that there was nothing he could do if he were to encounter a straggler anyway. So he stopped. Feeling hungry, he waddled around the trees, looking for a snack. After an awkward ambush attempt, Nico emerged with a bird feebly struggling in his maw, victorious.
"Nico!" Was that ... the horse? Ears perked up, he turned in the direction she called. Huh. Was she intending to go through with this? At first he thought it had been an offhand comment, but now ... Well, what was the harm? If he didn't come he would probably be beaten by the beast. Reluctantly, he picked up the stiffening carcass, trying to ignore the sticky blood that dribbled down his chest.
The mud was enveloping, restricting. Struggling, he could feel some sections sucking him under, and Nico fought hard to stay 'afloat'. He finally managed, mud ridden, to escape the vacumm, and plodded along, slightly down-hearted.
"NIC-OOOOO!" Bellowed the horse and he winced. Was that really necessary? Nico was only a few meters away, gosh. He dropped the bird's carcass on a patch of ground that looked the least likely to swallow it up. "I heard you the first time," grumbled Nico, walking as close to the horse as he dared. "What do you want?"He meant something along the lines of 'how the hell is this going to work out?'

"Nico!"
A minor annoyance to this particular female's ears. Nico? Who makes such horrible noises at such an inappropriate hour? Who was Nico anyway? She cared little. Her ears flickered a bit towards the entrance to her den, vaguely curious, but no more reaction was initially given than that. She was still sleeping, and was not very enthused about being disturbed. She recognised the voice, actually, even in her dozing state. It was that horse which had accepted her, whose name, she had now discovered, was Creek Dancer. Stupid name. She didn't think much of the horse at all, if she was perfectly honest. They were prey animals. What was prey doing here?
"NIC-OOOOO!"
Damn.
The horse must be really close, because she felt the shudders of the hoof-steps beneath her. And that voice was so loud. Ridiculously loud. Who did she think she was, patrolling through with these loud noises and disrupting her slumber? Green eyes snapped open, top lip curling back in pure disgust at being woken and her ears pinning back. What was the equine making such a fuss about? This Nico character better respond soon so she could get back to sleep.
Unfortunately, the universe appeared to have other plans.
She watched as paws walked into her view and a bird was dropped at the feet of this Nico. Nose twitched, and she considered stealing the bird while the wolf was occupied with Creek Dancer. It would make a nice breakfast, now that she had been roused. If the two El Doradians were going to be talking or sparring directly outside her den, there was little chance of her being able to sleep again. Yawning, she stretched her legs forwards luxouriously. Well, why fight it? She blinked sleepily, deciding to wait in her den until she knew the nature of this meeting. Maybe, they would only talk for a while. And she had no intention of just talking. If action was going to happen, however, well, she would be considerably more interested in that.
"I heard you the first time. What do you want?"
Someone else didn't sound too happy with the horse either. Perhaps this Nico wolf was one of her own mind-set. Standing, she padded out of her den, poking her head out and looking first at Nico, and then to Creek Dancer, trying to keep the scathing quality out of her eyes. "Good morning," she barked calmly with a casual smile. "Something happening, hm?"
Fairah exited her den properly now, flicking her tail.

She didn’t need to be a professor to realize that no one was going to take care of her no one was going to pamper her or feed her. She was in charge of her own life, she had to hunt down her own feed, scavenge up whatever she could get down her throat however nasty it might smell or taste she was not picky she was not even going to try and be picky about what she put into her mouth anymore. But her growth was spurring on she was the child of a blackblood and as so she grew, she grew a lot and her food habits had to pick up to get along with that growth and she could feel herself getting slowly weaker and without energy from the lack of food. She was only 2 months old and food didn’t exactly fly down her mouth and hunting was not as easy as it could have been. Though she practiced it and was lucky here and there she wouldn’t count on her being impressively good at it enough to feed her hunger and growth. An adult could live surprisingly long without food, but a growing pup could not do as well for long.
Normally she would be asleep at the very hour but this night she was simply standing in the river again and again snapping her fangs into the water, feeling the silky skin of a fish and feel it sly its way out of her fangs. She was getting faster but her grip was not getting stronger. She did not feel frustrated at this point rather slightly tired and she stood still once again, waiting patiently this time she would try with a smaller fish that she could actually hold on to in her size of mouth. Five fish had escaped her the last few hours and while she felt dizzy from being up so long her brain was also fixated on eating and her stomach almost turned into itself giving up on growling at her as it hadn’t been too effective for it to get her attention. And just as she dwelled a fish came by. It was not too big and it was just dwelling in the water without moving this might be her one and only chance. She snapped forward. "NIC-OOOOO!" Head first her mouth and eyes dove into the water has her attention was fixed up and away without stopping the forward motion toward the water and it ended in a splash and ringing to her ears after hitting the grounded bottom.
With a cracking headache and the ringing to her ears her entire world started to spin as she took a few step back in shock, she felt her body sway. She stood still for several seconds trying to regain balance and make earth stand still and it stopped spinning but it kept dizzy to left and right. She closed her eyes and even now she could feel the movement go from side to side and the intense headache. She winced slightly and tried walking up the shore and crawled toward the sound that had caused the head crash. She had no intentions of hiding or sneaking up on anyone this time but it did take her some time and she missed the conversations between the adults as she arrived from the side line. Her body was swaying slightly still she attempted to gain balance by her tail which helped a little. She turned to look to find a face she recognized in a female who had been flirting (urgh) and a huge hooved creature. If her headache had not be intense and dulling her senses she would have been more impressed by this odd creature. There was another wolf as well but she didn’t know this one. But what she did know was that he had a bird that he put down.
She was no actual thief but her instinct did kick in by now and she ran toward the bird. The world started tilting to her right. She moved her head to the left and crashed sideways out in the open. Frantic she kicked her legs up under her, trying to regain her legs and balance, she got up and stood swaying for a moment her eyes moving nervously without her realizing at first. She stared down at the male before turning to his bird and snap after it. Missing. What? She aimed a little more to the left and got it in her fangs. She tried turning around to run for her life but turning around caused the world to spin and she was on ice and fell tumbling to the ground again. With a wince and screech her legs flailed up in the air in shock and for seconds thinking she was still running on ground before she realized that sky was on the ground and ground in the sky. She remained still for seconds blinking at the sky as the world kept tilting like it was the deep ocean swaying in the rough wind. She felt sort of sick to her stomach…

Creek Dancer gave Nico a pleasant look over, grinning in an unnessecary manner. "Shoulda been here the first time," she sing-songed, well aware that he couldn't have arrived within the half-breaths she waited for his arrival. "But, if you must hear the words straight from the horse's mouth, we're going to whip that little doggie-butt into shape."
Her eyes glistened with an unspoken threat. Yes, Nico; you're fighting me. All half ton. But fear not! I'm teaching, not maiming~.
The misty morning gave way to Fairah's form. The she-wolf would get a nod of approval for her appearance. Creek was unaware of any negative feelings, or simply was too conceited to care. Hard to tell. "Just a little rough housing." The horse remembered the she-wolf's desire to be a Gunner as well. "Wouldn't you care to join us?"
I innitiated it, the horse thought. You're catching up. You're always playing catch up. Or at least Creek thought so.
The horse paid no mind to the pup until it went after Nico's breakfast. The horse reacted swiftly, walking in a mindful manner directly to the little creature. If the cub didn't move, the horse would pick it up by its skinny little torso, almost delicately before setting it on her back. "Where's your mummy?" she'd ask, something between sympathy and a desire to terrify the emaciated cub ringing in her voice.
Children always seemed to be surrounded by monsters nowadays.

"Shoulda been here the first time," sang the horse and Nico snorted. "But, if you must hear the words straight from the horse's mouth, we're going to whip that little doggie-butt into shape." He froze, confidence draining at the very thought. The hooves connecting to his skull by accident or worse had plagued his thoughts since he had seen the creature. Red eyes washed over them before looking up at Creek Dancer.
"How?" squinted Nico. The sun was at just the wrong angle, and could not see the beast properly, just the silhouette the ruffled mane. Added fear.
"Good morning," he had jumped, then looked for the direction the noise had traveled from. In his peripheral vision he saw a she-wolf exiting her den who, he guessed, had spoken. "Something happening, hm?" Ding ding ding! Did he get a prize? His face relaxed as she spoke, quite relieved for the species company. His front, left leg wriggled as the horse spoke, answering for the both of them.
"Just a little rough housing. Wouldn't you care to join us?" Nico took a quick look at the girl, hoping she would say yes and he wouldn't have to fight a horse. As he looked, a pup darted out and ran straight for his prey. A soft growl rolled from his clenched teeth as he moved to his right to protect it. There was a small soft spot in him for pups, and probably secretly wanted his own someday, but not enough to take what was his.
The pup fell straight into mud. Gee, good job; gravity strikes again. It must be only young ... Creek Dancer moved swiftly, before Nico could react and pulled her free. "Where's your mummy?" she asked.
Nico padded closer, head lowered and ears pressed backwards, trying not to look intimidating. "Don't steal," he said firmly. Obviously these profound words and lesson would echo thorough out her entire life, dictating her movements and future path. "I will take you to her, if you want."

Creek Dancer did not sound impressed with this Nico.
With a quiet sigh, Fairah tilted her ears forwards in the direction of the conversation beyond her den. What on earth was going on? Was this wolf going to take on the horse, single-handed? That was a big enough feat for a large, confident wolf. And even then, luck was required, and a lot of luck. Besides, the slight scent of fear wafting from the mutt into her den made that prospect seem unlikely. Highly unlikely. Fight or flee? That was a tactical decision. She suspected the wolf would choose the flee option in this case. Unless, of course, Fairah was kind enough to step in and lend a helping hand. If one wasn't confident with fighting, then fighting a horse probably wasn't the most sensible place to start. A wolf would be far more appropriate. But Fairah certainly wasn't anyone's punch-bag. She wouldn't mind proving to the high-and-mighty horse that she was a good fighter, though.
"Shoulda been here the first time. But, if you must hear the words straight from the horse's mouth, we're going to whip that little doggie-butt into shape."
Ah, so it was a fight which was soon to occur. Doggie-butt? Who did this horse think she was? Fairah's ears flattened to her scalp in annoyance and disgust. As far as she was concerned, the wolves ruled the roost here. And even if the equine did have a rank, this girl wasn't about to lay back and let the pony disrespect a fellow canine.
"How?"
A grin spread across her muzzle. How exactly, considering the worry of Nico? Well, it would be interesting to observe the fighting. But if she helped Nico out with this, then he would owe her... and favours were something which always came in useful and could be exploited at any time she desired. Eyebrows raising, she made her exit, tail flicking casually as she fully left her den. The male wolf jumped as she spoke (wow, he was a nervous one, wasn't he?) but the horse nodded simply to her. Stretching luxuriously, her large green eyes looked up to the horse, then to Nico, then back to Creek Dancer, waiting for an explanation.
"Just a little rough housing. Wouldn't you care to join us?"
Smiling slightly, she gave a casual shrug. "Well, it does seem a little unfair to make a... rookie fighter take on a horse... alone." Gaze moved slowly over to Nico. "Only if you need a hand, of course. Or I could offer some advice? If you can fight by yourself, obviously, then don't let me get in your way." Let's wait and see what you decide, rookie. I'm available to train you.
And then a pup appeared. She recognised the pup from a previous meeting when she and Shark had been engaging in some flirting. However, she was wary of the male, not that she had much of a heart to be broken. Flirting was fine. Even pups was acceptable. Relationships? Pfft. A year or so ago, Fairah would have been interested in this pup - points were awarded here for bringing up a pup. Having just dealt with her own litter, though, she wasn't wanting another mouth to feed, another responsibility, another liability. It didn't mean she couldn't train the kid a bit though, if she showed any promise.
Which, thus far, she hadn't.
"Where's your mummy?"
"Don't steal. I will take you to her, if you want."
Everyone was reprimanding the kid for attempting to steal Nico's bird. Fairah smirked at the pup, head tilting to the right slightly. Cheeky little blighter. But if the pup thought she had it bad, not having parents to care for her, well, she didn't know the meaning of a bad life. Eyebrows raised as Nico approached, his ears back. She half-expected him to grab the kid by the scruff and carry him off. "I hardly think that will be necessary," she barked. "Pups need to learn how to fight too. She could at least watch the adults... maybe she'd learn something from it." If she was intelligent. Which, as usual, Fairah was doubtful about.
Stretching again, she felt her muscles and brain begin to kick into gear.
Ah, fighting. The thrill never left her.

The dizziness and head pounding wore off as she landed on the ground. Her ears moved up as the large creature, which Sonja had told her was a horse, stepped toward and leaned down. Its (mouth?) opened toward her and a prey’s set of teeth leaned down toward her. Her eyes were fixated upward staring into the mouth to realize she was attempting to pick her up. Otim squirmed to the side and out of reach, dodging the horse’s silly attempt to nanny and baby her and then gave a strike forward, attempting to latch her fangs into the nose of the horse, growling at the same time. It was not a careful warning snap of displeasure it was a bite, wanting to make the creature back of and not attempt to pick her up once more. She backed away from the horse whatever her teeth hit it or not and watched the male wolf coming toward her as well. ”Don’t pick me up!” A warning to the male as well and a worded reminder to the horse of what her teeth hopefully had taught her. She may have been 2 months but she was not into getting nursed and babied for it. She could walk herself.
"Where's your mummy?" A deep snarl was the first respond the horse earned. Her tail was standing high and teeth were bared toward her bristles high up in warning signal. If the horse had not noticed the pup did not like her. She didn’t know where her mother was and to all likeliness she did not want to know or want to see her. She didn’t feel hatred for her trading her off, rather she was able to start her own life but in which case she had no wish to involve her mother into said life because she after all had left her. She had no respond for the horse that she could think of mostly because she did not want to speak to the horse but secondly because no matter her respond she was going to sound as if she had a grudge toward her mother. Her ears moved slightly from wolf to wolf surrounding her. ”My mother” Let the horse be a childish being all she wanted but Otim did not resort to “mum” or “papa” she was a child but not the “need to have a nanny” kind of child. She had taken care of herself so far and while she felt the meaning of hunger she did not go to anyone to complain about it and just got herself some food. ”Does not live here.” It was the best respond she could give without sounding like she held grudges. Though she had some for that horse.
"Don't steal, I will take you to her, if you want." Her face turned toward the male and she released a frown. She didn’t get it what kind of hypocrite was this? Or the pack in general if that was what he was saying. The pack lived off stealing and now she was told that she shouldn’t be stealing from him, probably with that one reasoning that it made him go buhu in the corner of himself because someone took his squeaky toy. If he wanted it to himself why did it put it off and walk away from it to have a brawl? It was simply a way for him to reprimand on her and she was getting sick of it more or less. “Don’t steal, don’t do this and that” to her it just sounded like “don’t grow up to be what we are and failed to become” hypocrites the entire bunch in her opinion. ”Isn’t that what this pack does? Steal from humans and packs just to make stuff? Are you saying you are a disloyal to the ways of the pack?” She narrowed her eyes at him, watching him in an attempt to stare him down. Sure he might be bigger and could easily overthrow her but what would he prove? That he could outdo a little kid? Sure the female and horse were going to be very impressed by him attacking a child in his male ruse. But she was challenging him, daring him to even go ahead and try and see what satisfaction he would meet.
"I hardly think that will be necessary, pups need to learn how to fight too. She could at least watch the adults... maybe she'd learn something from it." She turned to the female she already knew and had half way ignored until now. She considered her words for a bit and then decided to turn away from her and watch the other two. The horse clearly had some kind of issue, wanted to scare the crap out of her but Otim just per definition disliked the horse and so whatever fear that possibly COULD have been was simply replaced with a simmering anger and frustration now. ”Listen to Mrs. Flirty queen over there she is the only one with something useful to say.” It was not meant as an insult actually she couldn’t brag with knowing exactly to what extent of “flirting” really meant besides being overly fluttering with the eyelashes and giggle. So really it was just a way of saying “that person over there” when she didn’t really know her name.
She watched the adults one more time before taking some steps back and once again try and grab on to the leftover meat by Nico, watch him challenging once again before plopping down on the sideline to watch the adults brawl and (if Nico not had interrupted her “stealing”) eat the piece of meat satisfying the gnawing hunger that had settled days before now, she was not going to deny that piercing hunger that was fleshing out and if Nico was going to attempt another lesson to her she would snap and snarl in defense. Sure it did not truly belong to her but the hunger was starting to grown on her so strongly that she couldn’t ignore it anymore or even attempt to. She would die without food anyway so what difference would it do that Nico lost his temper with her? She would gnaw happily on to the meat and eat and swallow it as fast as possible before anyone would try and take it from her. Let the show commence.

The pup's little fangs struck Creek's velvet muzzle and the horse stood still. Needle point drips of blood oozed to a perfect droplet on her muzzle and the horse's eyes were glossy for a second.
"Don't steal."
Creek Dancer let Nico have an icy glare. The horse gave Fairah a look of what could have been agreement as the horse's head finally lifted.
A single splatter of blood would hit the ground and flat, herb crushing teeth would be exposed in a full on psycho smile. Hm. Yes. Miss Flirty Queen was the only one with something useful to say. In fact, Nico was lucky he wasn't going to get something that came to those who didn't say good things.
The mare would dart with the snake-like efficency horses were known for bitting with. Her entire aim was to take the pup into her own heavy jaws and throw the little critter into the air. Of course, the horse would follow the pup. If that little snot-nosed kid thought it could talk to her this way, though it could talk to members who could pull their own weight, it had another thing coming.
She would preprime it for Fairah, for Nico, for Rita, and for herself.
It would take a miracle to save the pup from the fury of the horse's teeth and hooves. Creek Dancer was upon her now, full intent to maim the little mongrel.
Between the fling, the crushing blows, or chasing of the pup--depending on the sassy thing's reaction--she'd half-sing-song, half-scream. "WE'RE PIRATES, NICO~ Fairah, try to show him that." How they acted was up to them; Creek was busy right now.
[not as great as my muse last night. >_<]
